What is stress
Stress is a threat to the quality of life and to physical and psychological well-being (Tom Cox 1988). Stress is a normal part of life that can help us to learn and grow. However, stress can cause us significant problems.
Modern life has few physical stressors and more psychological stressors with no physical outlet, which in the long term can increase the risk of ill health
If no action is taken, the stress response can lead to health problems. Prolonged, uninterrupted, unexpected, and unmanaged stresses are the most damaging types of stress.
Some of the warning signs are:
Headaches, stomach upsets or feeling sick, back pain, sweating, difficulties sleeping, more colds or infections, irritability, depression or poor concentration
